Syntesis Flush Pocket Doors - Riverside SelfBuild

When Roxy and Nick found a probate riverside bungalow that needed a total rebuild they knew it would be a big project, but that it would also be their forever home. The house sits on the river bank which meant that it needed to be raised on piles as well having flood protection measures be put in place. But the couple worked hard to achieve a modern build that was still sympathetic and complimentary to the surrounding environment.

Roxy and Nick decided to use pocket doors over conventional hinged doors, throughout the entire house, after Steve Clifton (double award winning SCd Architect) recommended them. “Steve knew our vision was for a modern and functional home, so he planned pocket doors into the main drawings,” says Roxy. “We decided to use pocket doors throughout the whole house because we loved how much space they save.”

Pocket doors were installed in the utility room, both spare bedrooms, and the family bathroom. Double pocket doors were installed in the master bedroom suite, plus pocket doors leading into the dressing room, and then into the master ensuite. The master ensuite also has a frosted satin glass door to give it the feel of a high-end spa.

The couple did a lot of research into which system to use, and wanted something durable and high quality. “We looked at other systems. We asked on the self-build community groups, and on social media. ECLISSE kept coming up as number one,” explains Roxy. “We also had a recommendation from my brother-in-law who has a pocket door system in his house from ECLISSE and he is very happy with it.”

Roxy and Nick chose the architrave free Syntesis system specifically to achieve an ultra-modern look. “The doors and the whole system have come together to really set off the clean modern lines of the entire house,” says Roxy. “It's not a huge house, so the space saving you get from using this system allows for a better use of space in each room and entrance ways, as well as freeing up wall and floor space.”

The couple are delighted with the results.
