The Long Bennington Under 18s Girls’ football team has been crowned League Champions of the Premier Division of the Nottinghamshire Girls’ and Ladies’ League for the 2022/2023 season in emphatic fashion by winning every game. The team displayed excellent form throughout the entire season and led the league from start to finish. Trained by their coaching team of Michael Potts, Graham Hunt and Ben Cullen.
The team was newly formed team at the start of the season from merging teams from Long Bennington and Bottesford, with the idea to just keep the girls playing, but it turned out to be an inspired move that would ultimately lead to glory. Michael Potts, Coach said: “It quickly became apparent in the initial training sessions that it was the start of something special.”
“The girls quickly formed a cohesive unit and from the outset of the season played to a very high standard. The girls have such fabulous character, work-rate and talent. We’re delighted that they went on to win the league in top division of the Nottinghamshire with a hundred percent win rate, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the cup. The girls, or ladies as they are now, will continue their journey into open age football with some very proud coaches.”
“We would like to say a big thank you to our sponsors including ECLISSE UK for supporting us on this fantastic journey,” added Potts. “We are also looking for players for the ladies league for next season so if any ladies are interested, please contact us at Long Bennington FC.”
Caroline Clarkson Managing Director of ECLISSE said: “It gives us a great deal of satisfaction to be able to give back to the community by sponsoring this fantastic group of young ladies. They have produced some amazing displays this year on the pitch and have rightly come out as unbeaten league winners and league cup semi-finalists.”
“ECLISSE is delighted to be sponsoring the team again for the 2023/2024 season and we hope that their league success and good cup run will encourage even more fans to get behind this local team. Football, and sport in general, helps to create a sense of community and togetherness and ECLISSE is gratified to be actively promoting and supporting girls’ and ladies’ football locally.”
“Everyone at ECLISSE wishes the team well for the coming season and hopes that they can have another successful season in 2023/2024.”
