Surfability, Caswell Bay, DIY SOS: The Big Build

In August 2020, ECLISSE UK Ltd provided two classic fire rated single pocket door systems to Surfability in Caswell Bay, Wales. The project was part of the BBC’s flagship renovation programme DIY SOS: The Big Build, headed up by the award-winning presenter, Nick Knowles.

Surfability is the UK’s first fully-inclusive surf school set up by Ben Clifford in 2013. The school provides the opportunity for disabled people to take part in surfing. It is a World leader in new teaching methods and safety techniques.

The use of our pocket door systems within the building is a great example of inclusive design enabling wheelchair uses to easily manoeuvre around the building and gave everyone at ECLISSE a great deal of satisfaction.”

Getaway Girls, Leeds, DIY SOS: The Big Build

September 2022 saw a second collaboration with DIY SOS: The Big Build, as ECLISSE UK Ltd proudly donated a classic single pocket door system to Leeds based charity Getaway Girls. The charity has been providing support and empowering young women in Leeds for over 30 years, by helping them to learn new skills, build confidence and raise aspirations.

The pocket door system was used as part of a life-changing transformation of the Getaway Girls new charity headquarters which included a multi-purpose activity space, a music and media studio, counselling rooms, office spaces, a creche, and a kitchen, plus a garden area and parking.

The Regency Muse, Brighton, George Clarke’s Remarkable Restorations

James Watts, a self-builder based in Brighton, bought a former glassworks in 2015 with the intention of transforming it into a luxurious family home. The project appeared on the Channel 4 TV show George Clarke’s Remarkable Restorations. Built in 1818 The Regency Muse was originally used as a stable, before having several other uses over the intervening years.

ECLISSE gifted two architrave-free Syntesis pocket door systems and associated accessories to Watts in his attempt to create a stylish, high-end home. The results were truly spectacular, although ultimately Watts decided to sell the property to move to Spain to live with his partner.

James along with award-winning architect Giles Ings and a group of expert craftsmen, did an amazing job of restoring the exterior to its former glory. He modernised the interior whilst retaining an industrial look. The Syntesis pocket door systems will have helped to create a contemporary and stylish finish.”
