Villa Margherita: Seamless Flush-to-Wall Design for a Contemporary Home in Monza - Case Study
In a quiet residential area of Monza, Villa Margherita has been thoughtfully reimagined through a complete renovation led by Alessandra Parolini. Originally built in the 1950s, the villa retains its distinctive red brick façade, while the interiors have been transformed into a calm, contemporary living environment defined by light, continuity and carefully integrated architectural details.

Designed for a family of three, the renovation focused on the mezzanine level of the property, creating spaces that feel open, welcoming and highly functional. A palette of light oak, neutral tones and continuous surfaces runs throughout the home, complemented by bespoke joinery and flush-to-wall solutions that maintain visual clarity across every room.
The clients wanted a bright and comfortable home with generous storage and a separate kitchen designed for everyday living and entertaining. Oak, initially selected for the kitchen finishes, became the unifying material throughout the interior — appearing in the parquet flooring, custom cabinetry, living room panelling and fitted wardrobes.

The south-east-facing living area benefits from expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing that replaces the original windows, opening the home towards the garden and enlarged terraces beyond. Natural light fills the interior throughout the day, softened by linen curtains and layered lighting designed to create a balanced and relaxing atmosphere. Recessed spotlights, concealed LED strips and suspended fittings work together to minimise visual clutter while enhancing the architectural features of the space.

Flush-to-wall systems from ECLISSE play an important role in reinforcing the clean and minimal aesthetic of the project.
The kitchen, tailored around the owner’s passion for cooking, is accessed through a double flush-to-wall sliding door system. Finished in the same colour as the surrounding walls, the primed door panels blend seamlessly into the architecture when closed, allowing the opening itself to become the defining feature. A deeper wall section frames the transition between living and kitchen spaces, creating a subtle portal effect that emphasises the threshold without interrupting the flow of the interior.

This sense of continuity extends into the sleeping area, where full-height flush-to-wall hinged doors maintain the same pared-back design language. Openings throughout the home — both sliding and hinged — are free from architraves and decorative finishes, with surfaces painted to match the walls for a discreet, integrated appearance. Handles, shadow gaps and proportions become the only visible details, allowing the architecture to remain visually calm and cohesive.

The bathrooms continue the project’s focus on texture and materiality. Ribbed tiles have been used in both spaces, arranged differently to create distinct atmospheres. In the shower room, vertically laid tiles emphasise height and movement, while in the second bathroom horizontal lines enhance the more intimate feel surrounding the freestanding bath. Accessed via a concealed sliding door, the space feels enclosed yet connected within the wider architectural language of the home.

Across the bedrooms, soft neutral shades of beige, cream and pale yellow reinforce the calm and understated interior palette. In the child’s bedroom, a muted antique pink feature wall introduces a gentle touch of personality while remaining in harmony with the wider design scheme.
Throughout Villa Margherita, flush-to-wall systems support both the aesthetic and practical ambitions of the renovation. By removing unnecessary visual interruptions, the design achieves a sense of continuity that enhances natural light, spatial flow and everyday comfort.

For the design team, choosing ECLISSE was a natural decision based on previous experience with the brand. The quality of construction and ease of installation helped support a technically complex renovation involving integrated building services, radiant ceiling heating, ducted cooling, internal insulation and advanced home automation systems.

In Villa Margherita, doors are not treated as secondary elements, but as part of the architecture itself — integrated seamlessly into the walls to help shape a refined, contemporary home defined by simplicity, light and continuity.
