The Blackwood Group believe that people living with a disability have the most to gain from technological advances. Blackwood are passionate about developing and utilising technology to enable users to live a full and independent life. They chose to show case these innovations and technological advances at Housing 2019, the Chartered Institute of Housing’s annual event and Europe’s largest housing festival.
The specialist housing and care provider Blackwood, dominated the CIH event by installing a replica of its ‘Home of the Future’ at the show by building it and then transporting it across three shipping containers.
The pioneering home is designed to transform the day-to-day lives of people who want to live independently with cutting edge technology and design that reimagines living space, redesigning it physically and technologically to make it more accessible.
Innovative devices featured in the Blackwood Home of the Future include height adjustable kitchen surfaces, moveable bathroom components and an ECLISSE Pocket Door with our E-motion track with linear motor which enables the pocket doors to be opened and closed automatically either via a switch, a remote and even a radar sensor. Pepper the robot companion was also on hand too to greet visitors!
